Statistics on PPH requests

TIPO is currently running PPH programs with the US, Japan, Spain, and Korea. By the end of 2016, the total request for each program list as follows. In Taiwan-US PPH, there were 1,553 requests since it launched in September 2011. Taiwan-Japan PPH commenced in May 2012 and upgraded to PPH MOTTAINAI from May 1, 2014, in which 2,194 requests were filed. In Taiwan-Korea PPH, there were 26 requests since its implementation in July 2015. In Taiwan-Spain PPH, one request has been made.
The average first OA pendency for a PPH request is 1.88 months while the average disposal pendency is 4.5 months. In comparison, PPH mechanism actually allows for faster and more efficient prosecution of patent applications.
