Baidu, Geely Team Up to Make Intelligent Electric Vehicles
On January 11, 2021, Chinese internet platform and AI company Baidu Inc. and auto manufacturer Zhejiang Geely Holding Group announced their alliance to manufacture intelligent electric vehicles, making use of Baidu's autonomous driving technology and Geely's expertise in automobile design and manufacturing.
China's Copyright-Based Industries Achieve High-Quality Development During 13th Five-Year Plan Period
According to the report "The Economic Contribution of the Copyright-Based Industries in China in 2019" issued by the Chinese Academy of Press and Publication recently, copyright administrations at all levels in China comprehensively took legal, policy and administrative measures to promote high-quality development of copyright-based industries during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020). The industrial added value has increased from 5.46 trillion yuan in 2016 to 7.32 trillion yuan in 2019, with its scale up 34%. The Report shows that the share of the copyright industry in GDP and its overall scale have maintained a continuous growth, with the industries' added value reaching 7.32 trillion yuan in 2019, up 10.34% and accounting for 7.39% of the GDP, up 0.02%. It is reported that the copyright industry, a new engine of innovation-driven development, has played a vital part in the optimization and upgrading of China's economic structure, injecting vigorous momentum for China's high-quality development.
Changes and Revisions of Designated Goods “Medicated Toiletry Preparations; Medicated Shampoos; Medicated Mouthwashes” Effective from January 1, 2021
In response to Ministry of Health and Welfare’s new revision of Specification for Cosmetics for Specific Use under “Cosmetics Hygiene and Safety Management Act”, TIPO has announced that the designation on the groups of goods for “medicated toiletry preparations; medicated shampoos” and “medicated mouthwashes” in class 5 will no longer be acceptable from January 1, 2021. Statistics on Patent and Trademark Applications Received by TIPO, IP5 and TM5 in 2019
Figures released by USPTO, JPO, EPO/EUIPO, KIPO, and CNIPA (i.e. the world’s five major patent and trademark offices), show that invention patent, design patent, and trademark applications were mostly up in 2019. Regarding invention patent and trademark applications filed by Taiwanese nationals with IP5 and TM5, the USA and China were the two main jurisdictions for portfolio building.
